"This year the John Jay High School Field Hockey Team was blessed with an opportunity to work with the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation in "adopting" a 5-year old boy name Liam to the team as an honorary member. This past summer Liam was diagnosed with T-cell Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation partners athletic teams with children battling pediatric brain tumors and other childhood cancers. Liam attended practices, games and team outings this season with his new field hockey team at John Jay. He has made our wins that much more enjoyable, and our losses a little bit easier. Liam is a constant reminder that love, friendship and kindness are the most important things in life."
The Pleasantville Varsity Football team hosted a St. Baldrick’s Foundation Fundraiser in September. St. Baldrick’s head-shaving events raise critical funds for childhood cancer research. The boys shaved their heads because kids with cancer often lose their hair during treatment. The boys raised $12,596.00 for children battling cancer.
Through various fundraisers throughout the year, the girls basketball team has raised $5,000 to donate to Breast Cancer research at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Many of you here tonight helped us achieve this goal and we thank you for generosity and support!! Together we can make a difference and together we will find a cure.
The Pleasantville boys' lacrosse team raised funds for the St. Baldrick's Foundation by shaving their heads this past spring. St. Baldrick's Foundation is an organization that funds research for children with cancer. Hats off to the Pleasantville boys lacrosse team!
